Creativity is a constructive tool which gives a new dimension or transforms a particular thing into a new form which is based on the creator’s imaginative capacity. It is the process that results in the production of something new. Creativity means exploring new thoughts and ideas which are different in some way or the other from the other previous ideas and thoughts. It is about expressing new relationships. Creativity is not only limited to objects that are for everyday use but it is an instrument, a tool for increasing knowledge. In all the spheres and areas of our life creativity is possible like working, playing, thinking, social interaction, etc.

Creativity has the power to bring new life and a soul to as still thing or resource, to project something beautifully. It has the power and ability to make new things or anything out of nothing.

To every person creativity is different and they have their own way of defining creativity but every person is creative in their own way.

Creativity has three conditions which are listed below:

  1. Production of a response or a novel idea.
  2. The idea produced must accomplish few goals or solve a problem.
  3. The original and real insight must be developed and sustained to the full. Rather than to be limited to a brief episode creativity is extended over a period of time. It is characterised by realisation, originality and adaption.

Creativity is not equal to intelligence. It’s not necessary that a highly intelligent person to be creative. Anyone and everyone can be creative no matter how much intelligence they have. Studies have proved that there is no significant correlation between intelligence and creativity. Creativity is more governed and drive by the mode of thinking rather than the amount of intelligence, though it needs some amount of intelligence.

Fostering creativity is very important. Educationists always lay importance on developing creativity in children. They have a believe and opinion that the parents and teachers must take some necessary steps to foster creativity in the children. It is found that the development of creativity is genetic and it also depends on environmental factors.

Though we cannot do anything about genetic factors, but we can do something about behaviour through the manipulation of the environment in which we live. In the development of the talent creativity, the family, culture, education and atmosphere plays a very significant role. When creative behaviour is encouraged then only creativity flourishes.

It is also found that creative thinking can be improved by proper training. It is also observed and found by the studies that if parents and teachers recognise the creativity of a child and encourage them to develop those creative thinking then it yields good results.

Gold has suggested some guidelines for schools so that it can foster creativity among the children. The guidelines are listed below:

  1. A rich environment is essential which will stimulate creative thinking.
  2. Freedom from the complete structured situation will allow a child for free expression in science, art, etc. rather than assigning endless tasks to them.
  3. Recognizing a creative child and strengthen his creative abilities.
  4. Teachers should put emphasis on helping a child to see contrasts, relationships and sequences.
  5. Teachers should encourage interpersonal stimulation and group contributions.
  6. Teachers should help and encourage children for creative dramas, plays, drawings, music, dance, paintings, etc.
  7. Children must be recognized in the role of self-discovery in the creative activities.
  8. The readiness for creativity should be recognised.
  9. It has to be realized that the whole community acts as a stimulus to the creative efforts and it is important.
  10. To develop self-confidence in a child, a good and stimulating environment is important and necessary.
  11. Instead of expecting some mere obedience the teacher should encourage the children for free originality, expression and variety.

Creativity is important as it helps people to learn and think for themselves and by themselves. Creativity opens doors for many new and different things.

Ideas and thoughts can be expressed by people in different ways. It can be expressed through writing, singing, drawing, etc. Sometimes to be creative, we need to think outside the box and think something which absolutely different and new than other people’s work and normally how it is presented.

The whole world is filled with creative ideas. Creativity allows a person to think beyond the normal thinking and lets that person to enter the world of creative ideas. When we see a small lump of clay on a table or somewhere we might not do much with it or may not even touch it. But when a small kid encounters it, he or she will pick it up and give it a shape, transform it into some form according to his creativity talent and bring life to it.

Creativity cannot be measured. It is a mixture of idea and imaginative thinking space that comes out of a creator’s mind which guides him to perform the required actions based on the creative thought that just came in his mind.

Creativity takes place in the imaginative space of a person. If we provide a blank paper to the students in a class and ask them to fill it up with their creative ideas then we can see there are many ideas that are thrown on the paper depending on each and every student’s creativity. One student may have drawn some cartoon, one may haw drawn a landscape, etc. We can see that creativity differs from one person to another. As more than one person cannot think alike.

Creativity comes into play in different ways. Like if we see a paper lying in front of us then an amateur man who is doing nothing may start to scribble on it or fold the paper into a square shape. A small kid looking at the paper being done so may add something to the paper by putting his own creativity such as transforming it into a boat or something. A more creative person may try to make a paper flower or anything more creative from the same paper.

Hence, we can find two aspects from this. One is the factor of age, a small kid of 4 or 5 years maybe not be able to transform the paper into something very unusual and new. His age is acting as the determining factor. The creativity he displays will be according to his age and will be appropriate but when he will start thinking out of his creative box then it will become his talent. The second one is the imaginative capacity of any person which is built on his or her thinking capacity.

An average person probably would convert the paper into a house or a boat and his approach will be determined by how far he is allowing his mind to think and stretch. He might have tried doing house or boat quite a number of times and the next time he sees a paper he will be trying the same thing again. He is bound to do so as his mind is programmed in such a way that it will perform the same thing again and again. There is repetition of creativity and also the loss od new creative ideas from within. But if that person performs a different activity in the same paper like trying to make a paper flower which he hasn’t tried before and have to use his mind to give it the desired form, then his creativity comes to play.

Creativity is something that is present in our lives, knowingly or unknowingly. We daily use creativity in one way or the other. When a mother is cooking a dish and thinks to improvise it then she’s using her creativity. She is making use of her cooking experience, applying her creativity to make something new and the end products results in a creative and new product. By the application of creativity, certainly a change is brought in our daily lives.

There are people who are multi talented. They have talents in many areas and domains just because they were able to think different from others. They were able to think in such a manner that nobody else could think like that and thus results in something which is more creative than others and the previous one.

The difference in a person’s work can be made and seen by the application of creative abilities and creative thinking. It takes the name of talent when this work is delivered at the right time and at the right place. Creativity does not require any medium or platform to get noticed.

Creativity is inherent in a person and to exhibit it’s form it does not require any channel. Creativity might be required in everyday small task when it does not reappear the same way as it was the previous day.

One might think that they are not creative and are not able to do any creativity but unknowingly they are doing a lot of creative things. If they give a little more stretch on their mind to expand their mind and imagination which will result into be more creative and use more creativity in everything.  So, creativity is a tool, an instrument that makes everything around us look beautiful and in a different and better formation.
