Honesty is really the best policy even in relationships as well as in work life. Our honesty says a lot about our personality. It describes us as a person. Honesty is a just a state a being honest or being fair. In simple words, it is the straightforwardness of conduct. Honesty means to be honest with every person in every aspect. We cannot be selectively honest. Honesty is the best identity of a trustworthy person. We all are familiar with honesty or the importance of honesty. At least we complain about honesty a lot. But we generally do not use this term. Honesty is a habit which we all should develop. We all have somewhere forgotten the real meaning of the virtue of being honest.
We all have become corrupt in some way or other. We do not acknowledge the quality of being honest these days. But a true successful person is always honest. An honest person is always treated with respect and gratitude in the society. This kind of respect is hard to earn. We only earn regards for our career or our economic well-being which vanishes behind our back. But this kind of hard-earned respect which is because of our personality and its virtue like honesty never dies even when the person has died. This is the real property earned by a person in his lifetime when people recognise them as an honest person. It is a part of ethic basically which cannot be taught by using books. It is an abstract quality. That is, when cannot touch or smell honesty. We can only feel honesty. Schools should make moral values a compulsory subject. Because these days, kids fail to have the bare minimum qualities in their personalities. One of those qualities or virtue is honesty. Somewhere, this situation is occurred due to reciprocity between the students and the teachers.
Because home and schools are the only places where a person can learn ethics and grow to become a good human being in future. If we start imparting such qualities in our education system then we can actually make differences. And if we develop such kinds of qualities in the childhood itself, then we can truly become better human beings. As the childhood stage is the most basic stage to learn these qualities. It is important to teach ethics in school because of many reasons. As the school students are the youth of the nation, they are the future of this nation as well. They determine the future of this country and the growth of the country. So, the school students should get an opportunity to develop these kinds of virtues in them.
We can literally see that honesty is a solution to many problems. Even honesty is required for nation building as well. If all the citizens of the countries become vigilant and honest than our nation would develop in no time. We know and understand where we have come as a nation because of lack of honest men. We know that because of corruption we are not able to grow as a country. No matter what kind of schemes or programmes the government implements or try to implement, it never reaches to the lower section of the society because of this dishonest people and the misuse of their power.

If we all start to be honest only for 24 hours, we can bring remarkable change to the nation. And if we really love our country then we must develop the virtue of honesty in our personalities. If we start being honest then we would not just help to develop as a country but we will leave in a peaceful society as well. Such is the power of honesty. It can change the quality of life for everyone of us. If we go on listing the fight and arguments we had in a month, we would notice that half of the fights and arguments we had was because of we being dishonest or someone else being dishonest with us. Mostly, we will see that others were dishonest to us.
This is because we are not even honest to ourselves. We often forget to introspect and hence we never really find our mistakes. But if we all were virtuous then we would never really face the issues we are facing these days. An honest person always corrects his/her mistake. Honesty is more than just telling the truth.
As in this essay, we have considered honesty as a virtue, there is an argument to prove that too. Honesty has been considered as a virtue in almost every religious and cultural diversities. Even being dishonest is a sin in many religions. The path of honesty and maintaining honesty is obviously tough. There is no doubt in that. Especially, in the recent times, it has become even more tougher. This might be because human’s never-ending greedy nature. Even the honest person sometimes gets weak because of greed. Maintaining honesty is real virtue. Dishonesty always comes from dirty and polluted minds. A good body and good soul can never be dishonest.
So, we can conclude that honesty is an integral part pf good life which can literally can actually bring remarkable change the society and make this world a better place to live. Although no one is completely honest these days but at least we can try to minimise the negative qualities we have.
