Afterall life is a series of both, happy days, and sad days. Or maybe we should rename the sad days as not so happy days. If I try to list out my happy days, then I may write a never-ending list.

The happiest day of my life is the day of class 12th boards results. We all know and have experienced the country’s obsession with good grades. Once in a lifetime, our days revolved around our marks. Everything was merit-based we thought. This is obvious that marks are not everything in life and marks are not life. Good grades cannot make much difference to your life until you decide to. Grades are just some minimum criteria which can get you something you have always dreamt of or more precisely, grades just help to get a knowledgeable exposure. And exposure matters a lot in our life.

Exposure helps us evolve as a person and evolution helps us become s better person in our life. Anyway, grades are generally earned by bookish knowledge and bookish knowledge does not do much in real life. Experiences help us tackle the real-life issues. Books can never teach us certain things that life can teach and hence, grades never matter that much. At least how fanatic some of us are about good grades, we need to have a greater view of life.

But as the obsession was feeding my hunger, this day, basically the results day meant a lot to me. Class 12th is the last class of our school life, and the score determines our college too. And the college decides our journey further. Therefore, it is the steppingstone of our career. I had prepared almost everyday for this examination. I had literally made my nights my days. Who does not work hard for their 12th boards? Even the backbenchers and the stupid lazy kids suddenly take this year seriously or maybe they forced to take the year seriously. When I was preparing for the exam, some days really felt terribly tired. I felt like giving up some nights. But now, when I look back, I realize how pretty the journey was.

I often cherish those days. Procrastination was a myth back then. I could not even think of being unnecessarily lazy. Even sleeping an hour more felt like a loss. The exam days were most memorable. I could recount everyday of the exam month. Yes, the exam was a month long. And no matter how hard I had studied in this one year, my definition of struggle was to be determined by the performance of those three hours I had put in every exam.

Nevertheless, hard work always pays off. But my journey of board exams had its own twists and turns. A normal person would just stress about the exam and then sit for the exam and the wait for the exam results. But my journey was different than this normal routine. I had studied just the way any teenager would study. I had tried to put in all that I could. I had tried my best. But as soon as I gave my first exam, the country was hit with mass protests. There was bill that was passed in the parliament just before the boards. The bill was controversial for some part of the population and hence, had received mass protest. I do not remember such protests in my teen years.

Things turned ugly with no time and my exams got postponed. This kind of postponement was very new to me. Finally, the exams were re-scheduled, and I was able to sit for them again. But we have more twists in the story. Soon, in between my exams, the world was hit with rapid and deadly corona virus. Everything was shut again. The virus was new to everyone of us and before we could understand the virus, we will already in the affect. Somehow, I managed to complete my exams.
