In this essay we are going to talk about the Village. Village is full of peace, simplicity, liveliness and it is purely natural. The people living in the villages are blessed with clear water, clear and fresh air, greenery. Whenever we talk about villages the things that come to our mind are voices of cattle, the chirping of birds, mud houses and lush green fields. We can only talk about how the environment is so soothing and pure.

In India, villages existed from the ancient times. The villages were dependent on each other as there were no other means or sources for the demand and supply of goods. Villagers have always lead a very peaceful life. During festivals they used to visit other villages to celebrate with them and to see how they have decorated and are celebrating the festivals.

In the world, India is the second most populated county. In India, agriculture is a primary sector. As it is the base of all other products and its has the largest share in the national income. To feed such a big population we need food which comes from the villages. No matter how developed a city is, we all are dependent on villages for the food and raw materials. They contribute a lot to the development and growth of the country.

The people living in villages are very hard working than the people living in the city. They have a lot more capacity and strength than the people of urban area as they maintain a healthy lifestyle, stay in an environment which has pure food and unpolluted air. They are proud of their work, and their work is their life.

The Indian population has a majority of farmers who are settled in villages. They work day and night so that they can produce crops and food for the whole country and can earn some money. But sometimes, the villagers don’t get the wage they deserve for their hard work. Some buyers buy the crops from the farmers at the low price, but they sell those crops and foods at high prices.

There are almost 500,000 villages in India. There is a fewer settlements in the village, less than 5000. Village is considered as rural part of the country as it does not have modern facilities. The main occupation in a village in agriculture.

Villages have large settlements of tiled roofs, brick homes and stones. Artists and filmmakers have created a particular image of the villages such as tiny mud-plastered walls, roads and huts shaded by trees, few people who are walking slowly, large expanses of green fields and bullock carts. Woman is portrayed with a pot on their head walking towards a river or well, walking gracefully, their skirts swaying gently. But this is not the reality. In reality, village life is a very busy life with nonstop activity, and their work ethics is very strong.

The importance of the village is unexplainable. Villages are the backbone of our India’s economy. They have the primary sector that is agriculture, the base of our country. It maintains the ecological balance of our environment as they are covered with plants and trees. The trees provide shelter to so many animals; it gives shade to the people during summer and provides a cool breeze which are not available in the cities.

People in villages have a very simple life. They stay far from the hustle and bustle of the city life. People can experience the beauty of nature in the village. One can see stars at night which we can’t see in the city. The villagers don’t have much demands but still they don’t get the basic facilities. They don’t have electricity, proper schools, health centres, toilets, etc. The poverty in a village is clearly visible. In the village there is still Panchayat Raj which monitors all the activities. Other than agriculture they also work as goldsmith, carpenters, some has their own shops, some are in Pottery, etc.

The villagers live together with love. It’s full of happiness and contentment and they have a great harmony. They have a relation of brotherhood. They are always together in each other’s sorrow, happiness, ups and downs and are also helpful. They always help each other. They have a very simple life, and they believe in superstitions.

Everything in this world has two sides i.e. a positive and a negative side. Though a village life is beautiful, it has its own advantages and disadvantages which are as follows:

ADVANTAGES

  • In villages, people are safe. As they don’t have cars and transportations people don’t face accidents.
  • They don’t require much money for expenditure as they grow their own crops so they just have to spend on fish and meat and few other vegetables.
  • They live a healthy life as they don’t have the office tension. They wake up early and sleep early as well which is good for health.
  • As they don’t have much thing to do in villages they can spend a lot of time with their families which makes their bond stronger.
  • They don’t have any conflicts among them as they have a great harmony. Even if they have conflicts, it’s not a big one and they solve it within few days.
  • The population in a village is less for which they don’t face any traffic, and everyone has access to pure water, air and other things.
  • Villages have many trees and vast green lands because of which they maintain the ecological balance. They also compensate for the greenery and trees that is lacking in the cities.
  • They also have a healthier environment as they have many spaces. Sometimes, people from urban areas also buy some lands in villages and build houses and sell the land later at a double price.

DISADVANTAGE

  • As people living in villages believe a lot in superstitions they often fall under the trap of people who are fraud and in result faces a huge loss.
  • A lot of villages hasn’t had electricity till date for which they have to face a lot of problems. It acts as a barrier for the students as they can’t study during the evenings.
  • Villages are still lacking proper toilets. Girls and women faces most of the trouble because of this. During periods, they avoid going to school due to lack of proper toilets and sanitation. They still use of piece of cloth during periods which is unhealthy and not good for them.
  • They even do not have proper roads and healthcare services. They do not have a single hospital, and many people die as they do not get proper basic treatment. Sometimes, they have to take some dangerous paths to go to work because they lack basis road facilities.
  • Villages also do not have education system, and due to this most of the people are uneducated. Even if they have education facility it is not that good and they have to travel long distances to go to school which is dangerous for both girls and boys. Some even does not go to school because of this reason. Some parents try to send their kids to cities for studies but then the kids have to work at factories or somewhere else which is dangerous and against the law to earn money to stay somewhere.
  • They also do not have developed transportation system. And they have to work miles and miles to get transportation facilities.

Many people who stays in the urban areas go to villages during summer or in holidays to detach themselves from the noise and hustle and bustle of the city life. To have some cool breeze, tension free life to get refreshed and relaxed. Many people also have their grandparents in villages, and they go to the village to visit them. People feel a connection with the soil of the village. There are varieties of flowers, trees and crops. The village houses have courtyards where the children can play. As in villages people have joint family so the kids also get to spend a lot of time with their grandparents and learn a lot about the culture and tradition of our country and many other things.

The beauty of the village is so fascinating. Its beauty is so refreshing and amazing. There is beauty everywhere. Nature and its beauty can be experienced in every little thing, as it is surrounded by mountains, streams, flowers, trees and farmlands. The village life has its own importance. If the basic amenities and services are provided to the villages then it will be easier for the lives of the people living there easier. And it will also improve the people’s living conditions.

People in villages live peacefully and are not interested in the rat race and run behind success. Even without the basic facilities they are happy with their lives. Village is a great place for relaxation, for our mind and soul as it is free from the city noise. And it is a great place for our eyes as well to see such beauty everywhere which will soothe our heart and soul.
