In this essay we are going to talk about the My House. Home is where the heart lies! Many of you have heard it and even believed in this phrase. I do too! But I also believe in the phrase, “the heart is where the home lies!”

A safe place away from all the nuisance of the world. A place where no one can judge you! A place to call your own! A place which one can proudly call home! Just like no person thinks the same in the world, no home is the same in the world. It may depend on one’s budget and preferences. Some prefer small cosy houses while some prefer large ones. Regardless of the preferences, what is it that makes a mere building, one’s dream? Why is having one’s own apartment or house such a big deal? Why does one find comfort in their homes? Let’s find it out-
What does my house have?
As mentioned earlier, everyone may have their own preferences and conditions while building or buying a house or an apartment. Their preferences can change a house’s ambience to a great extent! Apart from this, many other factors can determine the environment around the house and see if it is comfortable not! Let’s look into those different factors that make a house into a home!
The surrounding environment
There is no denying that the surrounding environment plays a big role in calming or frustrating one’s mind. For example, if I consider staying in a place where every day there is an unwanted amount of noise, I’ll probably be irritated to the core! Similarly, a person should often make note of the surroundings before they are building or buying a house. If you prefer living in a silent or calming place, choose an area where there is less population or is secluded from others.
If you prefer living in a place that has easy access to the outside world and its services, living in the city, preferably near the centre is more appropriate. If you like watching beautiful views, you can choose a place near the sea or mountain or any other place which gives out the best view from the house. Overall, you have to be aware of what surroundings suit you the best and choose accordingly!!
The interiors
Another major factor that decides the ambience of the house is its interiors. One’s interior selection can be a good measure to check one’s taste in decorating the house. It also gives a visitor a glimpse of what kind of interest you hold. For example, if you are a person who loves art, having a painting on the wall may seem quite satisfying to you. Not only that but this will also give your guests an idea about the love for art that you hold! Many decorative items that are used to make a house give out a particular environment. For example, adding royally decorated vases and statues may give a classy vibe to the house.
There may be times when you are aware of the environment and ambience that you want to have in your house or apartment but you don’t know how to do that exactly. For such situations, you can often look out for interior designers who hold expertise in this area.
Size of the house
A person’s comfort in the house also lies in the size of the house he or she is living in. How? Well, it’s quite simple. Some people prefer to live in small houses whereas some prefer to be in a bigger one. Having a small or big house is not necessarily the proof of wealth that one owns, it is majorly the size that suits him or her the best. If they don’t like living in small spaces without any privacy, they can opt for a larger house, however, if a person prefers a small and cosy house, they can settle well with that too! The size of the house, at times, also depends on the number of people living in it. Hence, one has to look for a house accordingly!
People in the house
I have mentioned in the previous point how one should be clear about how many people are living in the house and choose or build one accordingly, but while doing so, they also have to make sure of other people’s opinions on how they want to live. Of course, the budget should be considered while talking about adding or buying something luxurious, but other than that, you should focus on how many rooms should one be settled with and other such basic things.
Neighbours
If you are living in a colony or society or a building, you can’t avoid having neighbours. Nowadays, in busy cities with busy schedules, no one has the time or patience to know their neighbours. This could be quite worrying as we live in a social world where interacting or knowing people around you is good for your safety and social life too! So one should be well aware of the neighbourhood they are living in as well as the kind of people they are living with. You can interact with them by maybe wishing them on your way or even inviting them to your new house. If you feel yourself getting comfortable around that space and people then living there might become a good experience for you!

Facilities and exciting activities
Some people, in their free hours, always look out for something fun to do. Then why not have something interesting at your home? It could be something as simple as a karaoke or a PlayStation which can entertain you when you are getting bored. You can also have the gym or exercising equipment like a treadmill or dumbbells which can help you do something productive while you are at home.
Security
Always make sure to have security in your house. Having locks and other security systems do help in ensuring a safe and secured humble abode.
Things I would absolutely love to have in my house!!
Everyone wishes to have a certain ambience in their homes. When they think about what house they want to live in, there might be many things that might come into one’s mind. Talking about me, I too have some ideas or things in mind which I want to have in my house. Here are some of them!
Flowers and vase
I hold a deep love for vases with flowers. They just seem beautiful to my eyes. So I would probably use them as decorations. Buying flowers regularly can be hectic, hence I might stick to artificially made flowers that do not need to be replaced on an everyday basis.
Dreamcatchers
I hold weird obsessions with dream catchers. I just find them so intriguing and beautiful. Hence, I would love to have one hanging on my windows!
Karaoke
I am someone who loves to go all wild singing their hearts out with my friends! Hence, having karaoke in my house is like a dream come true!!
Plants
Being a nature-loving person, I would love to have something that might connect me to the greenery and what’s better than a plant! I would love to keep these plants near my windows where they will get the appropriate amount of sunlight!
Carpets and area rugs
I would personally love to have carpets or area rugs in my house which would go well with the overall interior of the house. It will enhance the beauty of the house and would contrast or hide wooden floors or tiles.
First aid kits
Being a clumsy person who literally injures themselves every day, a first aid kit is a must for the necessary precautions.
Lights!
Personally, I am not a huge fan of darkness and would love to have unique items to give out glowing lights at night! I would love to have lamps or even small chandeliers which will keep my house away from the dark!
Pets!!
Pets are so cool! If you are living alone, they will become your companion, if you live as a couple, they will become your baby, if you are with family, they will become one of the members! Pets just have a way to your heart. I would personally love to have a dog or a bird as my pet! What about you?
Something to motivate
People like me often live in moods! We may easily become disheartened and demotivated at times. During those days, we need something that can keep us going! It could be either a poster with a motivational quote in it or a frame with my family’s picture in it!

House is a building of cement and bricks which becomes a home when one claims it and starts occupying themselves in it! It is a place that keeps you safe from the outside world. The comfort and content that one finds in their home are like no other! It is something that you can modify according to your will.
