Short Essay On My Village

In this essay we are going to talk about the My Village. Away from the lights and rush of the cities, surrounded by beautiful trees and fresh air, muddy roads and grassy fields with cattle grazing and moving around. That’s what comes to my mind when I picture my village. The freshness and peace in the village is not something you would find in big cities where everyone’s just rushing around. You don’t find people meeting up, drinking their tea and discussing some current affairs. You don’t hear the ringing of school bells with children rushing in to study. You don’t see the hard work for harvesting crops in the field. I never realized the significance and joy of seeing this with my own eyes until I reached the village and found myself getting lost in its sheer beauty.

Short Essay On My Village

Seeing people fighting their ways out to live in such competitive cities made me realise the warmth and togetherness that villagers hold in them. When we ask this to those people, everyone may have different opinions on it. There are many things which make my village special and beautiful!!

Essay On My village

What makes my village so special?

Villages and cities hold very different environments which we are very much aware of. Over the years, more and more people have moved to cities, leaving behind their village. This has certainly caused cities to become overcrowded and villages to remain underdeveloped. Cities do provide us with a lot of opportunities and luxuries but still, they can’t provide the peace one may find in a village. In my case too, no matter which city I go to, my village will always hold a special place in my heart. Why? Let’s look into it-

I find peace here!!

Staying in cities can be frustrating at times! Continuous honking, crowds and traffic make it unbearable. However, coming back to the village made me realize the peace it holds within. No honks, no traffic! Getting up with chirpy birds and sleeping with the blanket of the night sky full of stars! Even in my village too, there are various sources of voices from birds, trees, animals and villagers. However, these voices still calm me down and don’t frustrate me much.

Coconuts!!!

Being born in a south Indian family, we are meant to use coconuts in many of our dishes. So my friendship and love for coconuts have lasted forever! I still remember my grandfather bringing me fresh coconuts from the trees of his farm. It was so tasty!! Even now whenever we get a chance, we go there and get some coconuts for ourselves!

Fresh air!!

Unlike cities, villages do not possess ‘bad’ air and smoke. The air here is not that polluted and gives a sense of relaxation by inhaling it. Not just air, even the water here is pure and fresh from the river.

Evening games!!

Evening time is the game time for all the young men and kids of the village. They forget their worries and join the playground to spend some time with each other as well as play together. Playtime lasts till the sun sets and everyone goes to their house with tired bodies but happy smiles on their faces.

Harvesting and festivals!!

Farming is a very common practice in our village. Therefore, there are various rituals we do while harvesting. In our house, for example, in October, which is considered as the month of harvesting, we perform rituals and pray to god, thanking them for providing us with successful harvests. Even though we do have to wake up early for this, watching this ritual is a treat of its own!!

Bond with everyone!

If I ever hurt myself, the next day, the whole village might come asking about my well being! That’s just how people bond here! Even though it can be uncomfortable for us, at times, one thing is assured that they don’t possess any ill intention towards you. In the city, I have hardly seen people helping one another, but this is a very common practice in the village. Everyone is very familiar with each other, which is something that is not seen in cities where people hardly even remember their own neighbours.

Problems I faced while living in a village!

Being a person who has spent a decent amount of time in the city as well as the village, it becomes quite easy for me to see and realize the differences in the lifestyles of both places. From the mentality to the nature of people, everything is different!! In the above-mentioned points, I did try to showcase the sheer beauty of the village and the love and bond that villagers hold among themselves. However, there are certain problems that I faced while living in my village too! What are those?? Let’s look into it –

The mentality

If you are someone who has lived all of your life in the city. Living with villagers might seem a bit troublesome to you. Since many of the people in my village aren’t that well educated as of now, there may be a lot of clashes due to ideological differences. This can be troublesome for some people to deal with.

No privacy

I have mentioned the point regarding villagers that they don’t tend to hold any ill intention towards you. However, their concern can seem a bit disturbing to you if you are a person who likes to keep certain matters private. I, personally, was bewildered by seeing people prying into others’ matters hence one should be aware that it might become hard to attain some personal space.

Way of living

During my stay in the village, one thing which I noticed the most is that the way of living here was very different from that of the City. In cities, where people don’t even mind sleeping late or not sleeping at all, it becomes somewhat of a big no in the village. Even though health-wise it is pretty good, it can be difficult for late sleepers in the beginning days. Not just sleeping time, there is even an early waking up time too! So if you are not an early bird you must get used to it!

Coping up with the surrounding

You sure may love the cute animals of my village but you might find it hard to see people picking up their dung!! That’s how the village works! It might be hard for a city person to get a hang of certain things in the initial stages. However, with time, one can get along with it!!

Opportunities and luxuries

It would be quite inaccurate to assume that there are no opportunities in my village. With the development of the country, there sure has been various benefits and opportunities given to many villages, however, the awareness and presence of such benefits are still less. The story is kind of similar in the case of luxuries too. Many people in my village are still unaware of the use and discoveries of technology. Hence, new gadgets and luxury items might seem a bit foreign to them.

Conclusion

Neither all people are the same in the world, nor are all towns, cities and villages! My experiences in the village might not be the same as others. For someone who was used to living in the city, coming back to the village was tough. It was challenging in the beginning, however, with time I did manage to get the hang of it. Me being a nature-loving person did help a lot with it. Therefore, if you are someone who looks up to being close to a simple and nature-friendly lifestyle, they should lookout for a trip to a village!

Over the years, there has been a grave decrease in villages. They are either getting gobbled up by technology and industrial development or are being abandoned by people. Even in my village, the condition is the same! Finding people who are willing to work on farms is as difficult as counting the number of cells in one’s body. Though the situation is not that terrible yet, it may become harder in the future if this continues!
