The answer is simple; it is universal. If this is to be connected with aspects dating back to the historic times, then it can be put in simple words stating that the influence of the British and their rule that was imposed on a lot of countries across the globe was the reason why the English language was able to spread globally. It is not just the colonization of the British but also through overseas trade that used to happen during those times.
So, this can be seen as one of the first steps towards the spread of the language globally. Now what is even more interesting to know is that the English language did not stay the same as it was during the ancient times at the time of its introduction. There are a lot of benefits to learning the language because it is really an effective tool when it comes to communication with people from different backgrounds and nationalities. Being an international language, it is commonly used by people which makes communication easier. It is also used as a primary language in many educational institutions as well as private and public companies worldwide.
The language is also used in a lot of other fields that can be related to our hobbies like reading books, watching movies or web series etc. Additionally, the mode of instruction that is being used in almost more than 90% of the countries in the world is also in the English language. So, looking through the overall significance of the language, the main purpose is meant for effective communication with proper understanding. After all, it is only with good and effective communication that a lot of good results are yielded in almost all aspects of life, be it professional or personal. Let us understand this better with the aid of an example. For instance, let us say that you are working in a multinational company or any other corporate company.
You are often engaged or involved in meetings where you get to meet people from various countries, who speak different languages, differ culturally, have different backgrounds and most important of all, speak different languages.
