The favourite place is where one loves to go, relax, enjoy and spend time. The favourite place of human beings varies from person to person. Some may have same favourite place and some may not. The favourite place can be anything like beach, school, someone’s house, room, natural place, safari, etc. This one favourite place changes the mood of people instantly. It is a kind of place which frees people from the stress and tension they have or if someone is having a bad day then after visiting their favourite place they feel better and at peace. They forget every bad thing and all kind of concerns.

Everyone in this world has their own favourite place to go where they feel safe, happy, comfortable and they captive their mind. A place where they go during the of sadness and rough days. This favourite place is a kind of place where they can throw away their concerns and a place that reminds us of some beautiful moments which we love to reminisce just by sitting there.

Like this, I also have my favourite place. And my favourite place is my Grandma’s house. My grandma’s house has always been very special to me since childhood. During my summer vacations in primary school, high school and in my teen years I used to visit my grandma’s house. Due to hectic schedule and studies I can’t visit her house often like before but whenever I do it’s the best time and day of my life just how those summer vacation days were.

My grandma’s house is located in a small village. There is greenery everywhere with cool breeze. The house is well constructed and has 5 rooms. The house is painted with slate and orange colour from outside and from inside it has different interior designs and is very bright and colourful. Every person in the village loves my grandma’s house as it is pleasing to the eyes and is very beautiful compared to all the houses in the village. Both my grandfather and my grandmother made this house with a lot of love and personally took part in building of this house.

It also has a roof where there is a portion where plants are planted in a beautiful arrangements and few chairs with a small table is also kept. During evening we go up there and have tea and spend time together. My favourite place that is my grandma’s house also has a backyard where my grandma grows fruits and vegetables. Even today she takes care of those plants, fruits and vegetables. When I was a kid I planted a mango tree and every year I saw it growing up along with me. I also gave a name to the plant and the name is Tari. I loved going to the backyard and spend time with my grandma under the mango tree, my Tari.

Her house has something special in it, the vibe is so comforting that it soothes my soul. Her house is very precious to me. There are little things about the house which makes it very special to me like spending time with Grandma in the backyard or the warm sun falling on the veranda which feels so good specially during winters. While staying there it feels like the time has stopped, and we are alone in the house with a cool breeze and warm sunlight, not worries, no stress only happiness and calmness. The food is healthy and simple. Also, there is no traffic hence, no noise and no pollution. My grandma’s place is my favourite place not only during the summer but also during the winters and rainy seasons.

In the winters we sit on front of the fireplace drink hot chocolate and coffee with cookies and sometimes we have get together as well specially during the Christmas. Everyone like our aunt, uncle, cousins, grandmother, grandfather, my parents we all have fun together, eating the cookies made by my grandma, talking about old memories. The days in my grandma’s house and the get together soon are always full of cheers, good positive spirit and laughter. My uncle has a very good humour. His jokes are always fresh and new and made everyone laugh so bad. Aunt had a signature laughter which made everyone laugh even more. Everyone make jokes about each other or tell the new jokes.

My grandma spends her most of the time in the veranda, reading  newspaper, having a cup of coffee and feeding the sparrows. The sparrows comes and sits on the veranda everyday during the afternoon. They never flew away when my grandma came but when I first found that the sparrows come everyday I went to the veranda to feed them but after seeing me they flew away. But after few days they started being comfortable around me as they understood that I won’t do any harm to them. I loved feeding them, I enjoyed that moment a lot as I was able to spend some alone time with my grandma and feed the sparrow as well.

I used to tell all my secrets, stories to my grandma during that time. My grandma also gave names to the sparrows such as Rima, Tina, Teju, Sara, Debo, Lucky, Priyangshu, Ajay, Vivek and many more. Though I never understood who is who and I thought everyday different other sparrows also came but she can make out which sparrow is Tina and which sparrow is lucky. Still I call them whatever name I could think of. She describe the sparrows as if she’s describing human beings with their own personalities. It’s always great and fun to listen to her stories about what the birds did that day. She loves birds and explains them with action and it’s always hilarious to see her while doing it.

She loved watching birds fly while sitting in her own room. At night she also feeds the dogs and I accompany her. I love dogs and feeding them makes me feel good. I play with the dogs and one even became my best friend. Whenever I visit my grandma’s house I meet her and play with her that gives me extreme joy. Last year she even have birth to 4 cute babies. I have name to them and they are Sarang, Chiku and Shiro and Kiro. They are very cute and healthy. I love playing with them. I buy dog foods and feed them so that they can be healthy and fit and grow up well.

 The house is about 70 years and it is renovated recently. My grandma took special care that nothing gets damaged while renovating. I have my own small room in the house which I decorated myself with the help of my grandma. She went to shopping to buy all the things that I needed to decorate my room. My room also gives me a very safe and good vibes. I can spend hours and hours in my room from doing nothing to everything. I call my room a secret room as only me and my grandma knows where my room is. Before entering my room there’s a library where hundreds and hundreds different kinds of books are kept varying from science books to humanities books to novels, story books about different genres like murder mystery, science fiction, children’s books, history books, etc.

All the books are organized by my grandfather himself as he loves books and gets very angry if anyone does any damage or disorganizes the books. We also have a back porch where the females of our family sits and have their own time to relax and gossip about the neighbourhood. My grandma is known as the gossip queen. Anyone can get information from her about whoever and whatever they want. She has all kind of information and tips for everything starting from cooking tips, to household tips for beauty and everything.

In this world, there is no one who do not have a favourite place be it their room or beach or mountains or even their imagination where they find peace and comfort and the kind of place they want and visit. The favourite place helps to release the stress that has been bottled up inside them and be happy. After a long, tiring day, week sometimes even months and years my favourite place which is my grandma’s house gives me absolute peace and rest.

I have a lot of memories in that house which are very precious and important to me. It indulges me in life contemplation and comfort when I need it the most. When I feel like running away I visit my favourite place that is my grandma’s house. It is always a great joy to spend my holidays there with fresh air and warm sunlight and cool breeze, and at night it feels so relaxing and soothing to see the stars at night.
